Walnut Cutting Board
A walnut cutting board I made for myself. I use it almost every day.

Why I made it
I cook a lot, and I wanted a board that looked nice enough to leave out on the counter. Walnut holds up well, is easy on knives, and I love the color.
Process
First I milled the walnut flat and square so the glue joints would close up tight. Then I glued and clamped it, flattened the board, cut it to size, and rounded over the edges. After that it was a lot of sanding, moving up through the grits until it felt smooth.
Finish
Since food goes on it, I used a food-safe finish that soaks into the wood. Every so often I oil it again and it looks new.
